Perennial Gardens is located at Elke and Ken Knechtel's home. Once you are on 224th Street, look for the sign at the gates to the garden. Don't be fooled by the size - Perennial Gardens offers an incredible collection of unusual and interesting perennials - over 2000 varieties of herbaceous perennials are listed in their catalogue. They are especially known for their extensive collections of hostas and hardy geraniums, and in September, the ornamental grasses will be at their best.

While travelling to Maple Ridge, you may want to visit Minnekhada Regional Park in Coquitlam, a wonderful park and waterfowl reserve. Recommended trail: the Big Knoll. Hike the Knoll to have a fantastic view of nearby area: marshes, Pitt River, etc. Lots of interesting birds to see, including bald eagles. (Walk from the parking lot to Big Knoll takes about 1 1/2 hours and isn't very challenging.)
