Award for top female research undergrad
Computing science student Bistra Dilkina was named outstanding female research undergraduate by the Computing Research Association. The annual award recognizes undergraduate students who show outstanding research potential in an area of computing science. As a research assistant in the School of Computing Science intelligent systems lab, Dilkina worked on an artificial intelligence project to develop a programming system for solving difficult scheduling, planning and configuration problems. Dilkina was also cited for her extensive public service record, including work for the St. James Community Service Society, which provides help and shelter to people with mental illness. The CRA’s aim is to strengthen research and education in the computing fields, expand opportunities for women and minorities, and improve public and policymaker understanding of the importance of computing research.
