2010 Olympics speed skating oval
SFU will play host to some of the world’s top athletes during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and Whistler. Construction is slated to begin in 2005 on a new Olympic-style speed skating oval on the Burnaby campus. Planning is underway to ensure the 23,000-square-metre complex will be a lasting legacy to the community, with significant enhancements of sports science, health research, athletics, and recreation at SFU.
